Most students at Langley High School think that at our football games we have great spirit, especially compared to other nearby high schools, but just look at what some colleges had to say about their college football games spirit versus Langley’s football games spirit and how our spirit definitely has room for improvement.
Emily Flessas: James Madison University
Emily Flessas has attended multiple James Madison University football games in her first semester attending JMU. When asked if JMU football game was better than a Langley football Flessas was ecstatic about the topic. While talking about one of the differences she said, “At a Langley game, cold and rainy weather stops a lot of people from coming out. At JMU, fans tailgate and come out to all the games despite the weather,”. She rated a JMU game a 9 and a Langley game a 6. Emily describes a JMU game as a game where there’s “101 things going on at once,”. Overall Emily Flessas believes that a JMU game is better because “it’s a great atmosphere” and more people are socializing and watching while at Langley most people are just socializing.
Jessica Miles: University of Michigan
New Michigan University student and old Langley High School student Jessica Miles dresses head to toe in maize along with the rest of her students while attending the Football games at Michigan. Spirit plays a big role at Michigan University. Miles says, “100% – there is definitely more spirit at Michigan than Langley. At Langley most people aren’t there to watch the actual football, they are more there to socialize. At Michigan EVERYONE is focused on the game,”. Miles rates a Michigan game a 9.5 and rates a Langley game a 4. One reason Miles believes that Michigan games are better is because they are “more intense”. To conclude the interview Miles said, “in short the difference between Langley and Michigan games is night and day” which illustrates how much Jessica Miles really loves Michigan games.
Justin Speros: Clemson University
To Clemson freshman and former Langley alumni
Justin Speros the atmosphere of a Clemson football game compared to a Langley football game “is simply a different world”. Speros even knows of a schoolmate who camped out for 17 days to get a ticket to a game against Florida State. Speros said that two big differences between Clemson and Langley games are that at Clemson “the whole school is buzzing all week leading up to the game” and “Everybody is in their seat well before the game and they stay for the whole game,”. The games are so great there that Speros even recommends going to a Clemson game whether you’re a football fan or want an outstanding time.
Cathy Kiess: Virginia Tech
Cathy Kiess clearly described the difference of a Langley game to a Virginia Tech game in one statement, “Langley games were more about went on in the stands rather than the actual football game”. If Kiess had to give a rating on both schools she would give Virginia tech a 9 and Langley game a 7. When comparing both Kiess said, “In comparison to a Langley game there is an overwhelming sense of spirit and genuine pride to be a Hokie”. Even though she is a new student at Virginia Tech this year, she is already showing how much she loves the Virginia Tech games and her school’s spirit.
