With prom inching right around the corner, students are in a rush to find their dresses and suits, come up with an impossibly creative way to ask their dates and above all, to polish up their dance moves.
Every year, the same old, unoriginal moves reappear on the dance floor. These are those moves that have been floating around for years — the ones that have kept breathing only through drones too lazy to go out on a limb and change the world. This year, things are set to change. The dance floor will be revolutionized, and it starts right here at Langley High.
Two juniors, Tom Falco and Bobby Nobakht have invented their own dance move that will be on display on the night of prom. “We’re looking to have the whole dance floor doing the doody,” Falco said.
Their dance is called “the Doody” (pronounced da-doo-ty). “It all started when Tom and I were dancing one night, under a full moon,” said Nobakht. “We decided to make up our own dance. Tom started with the arm motion and just flowed from there.”
The Doody requires one to roll their shoulders, flap their arms and shake their hips. While it may seem complicated, Falco and Nobakht are eager to show off their dance along with other new popular dances.
“When Tom and Bobby do the doody they don’t just dance it, they perform it,” said junior Rachel Sanson.
So here is your call to action: be a pioneer; take what you know and make it known. Do not just settle for the electric slide or fox-trot. Don’t be afraid to do your “doody” and change the face of dance forever. Until then, you can practice your moves with some of these new crazes hitting dance floors everywhere.
