Held annually at the John F.Kennedy Center, the Cappies Awards Gala honors outstanding talent in the arena of high school theatrics.
Throughout the school year, a group of Cappies critics (student journalists from participating schools in the DC-Metropolitan area) observe and write reviews of various high school productions.
At the end of the year, voting takes place and the productions, actors, or behind-the-scenes crew members, are nominated to win a Cappies Award.
Individual Cappies Critics or Critic teams’ can also be nominated for consistent and thorough coverage of productions.
Essentially the Tony’s of high school theatre, nominations for Cappies Awards are a goal student actors and high school theatre programs strive toward.
“The Crucible”, this year’s spring play received eight nominations:

Featured Actress in a Play- Kaity Hinojosa
Supporting Actress in a Play- Lauren Fernandez

Lead Actress in a Play- Taylor Goodson

The gala will take place on the evening of June 10th, where winners of each category will be announced.
