Steve Jobs- the brain behind the 21st century epitome of technological advancement, Apple, died yesterday at the age of 56 from pancreatic cancer. From humble beginnings (Steve Wozniak and Jobs began Apple in a garage as hobbyists), Jobs was able to form one of the most influential companies in modern day society.
Not only was Jobs a co-founder of one of the most successful global corporations, he was also a visionary who changed the way an entire generation accesses the media. Inventions such as the iPod, iPhone, and iPad can all be credited in part to the brilliance of Jobs.
Diagnosed with the disease in 2004, Jobs announced his declining health to employees while still managing to work, despite the toll cancer was taking on his body. In 2009 Jobs took a six month leave from running the company in order to receive a secret liver transplant. A few months before his death, Jobs took another interval of time off to complete his autobiography, which will be released later this year. Jobs leaves behind a wife of 20 years as well as four children who mourn the loss of their father, just as thousands across the globe will.
