On Mar. 23, the Langley Choir brought a whole new type of magic to the most magical place on earth. The Langley Choir- the Concert Choir, the Madrigals, the Women’s Chamber Choir, and the Women’s Select Choir- brought home 5 trophies and 4 gold plaques at their Heritage Festival Competition in Orlando, Florida. “We won every award that we could have won,” said sophomore, Chris Paul. Each section of the choir was awarded a first place gold plaque.
“It was so much fun!” said sophomore Kushali Marwaha, “ I made so many new friends and bonded with so many of my old friends. It was a blast singing and an experience and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
“The Concert Choir, Madrigals, and WCC all received Adjudicator’s Award trophies for performances earning a score of 95 or higher. The Madrigals received the Top Choral Group trophy for the highest choir score of the competition, scoring a nearly perfect 98 out of 100. In addition to the Madrigals top score, the Concert Choir and Women’s Chamber Choir both received an average score of 96 each and the Women’s Select Choir received an average score of 94,” said Doctor Mac Lambert, the choir director.
The choir also won the Festival Sweepstakes trophy, which is given to schools that in two categories they win the highest scores with two or more choral groups. The Maestro Award was also rewarded to Sarah Larkworthy, to recognize her solo performance.
“It was a blast, we bonded so much with our fellow choir [members,]” said sophomore, John Higgins.
