As a freshman, swimming at the Regionals for Langley’s Varsity Swim and Dive Team was both exciting and nerve-racking.
To swim in Regionals, you have to make a certain cut-time which is what I and seven other lady Saxons did.
The Langley Swim Regional Girls’ team include Anne Gent, Fiona Muir, Amy Owens, Gretchen Roesel, Caitlin Rose, Abi Speers, Katie Storch, and myself.
Overall, we had a great meet, all of the girls made finals. Senior Abi Speers made a first place finish in the 50 freestyle and second in the 100 freestyle qualifying for States and in an All- American Consideration time in both.
Junior Gretchen Roesel made a third place finish in 100 breaststroke, also qualifying for states and an All- American Consideration time. Roesel also placed fifth in 200 IM qualifying for states.
Amy Owens placed ninth in 200 freestyle and fourth in 500 freestyle, Fiona Muir placed thirteenth in 100 freestyle and tenth in 100 backstroke also qualifying for states, Katie Storch placed fifteenth in the 100 freestyle and in the 200 freestyle, Caitlin Rose placed sixteenth in the 100 backstroke, and I placed sixteenth in the 100 butterfly.
As well as individual events, all of our relay teams will compete again.
The 200 Medley Relay of Fiona Muir, Anne Gent, Gretchen Roesel and I placed eleventh also qualifying for states. The 200 Freestyle Relay of Katie Storch, Anne Gent, Abi Speers, and I placed seventh also qualifying for states. And lastly, the 400 Freestyle Relay of Abi Speers, Katie Storch, Fiona Muir, and Amy Owens placed second with a State qualifying time!
Good luck tonight Lady Saxons!
