On Tuesday Nov. 16, the chess club hosted its first tournament of the year. The tournament was scored on a point system – one point for a win, half a point for a stalemate, and no points for a loss. The winner of the tournament was crowned the King of Langley. The current king is Nima Guerin, chess club president.
The club meets every Tuesday after school in room 108. It plans on sending members to a large chess tournament held in Washington DC over the winter. “Truly, in terms of quality, you can’t beat the chess club,” says member Will Mannon. Drop in and speak to Nima Guerin on Tuesdays if you are interested in joining.
