Langley students ace science fair regionals

The first and second place winners of the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held at Langley went on to compete in the regional ISEF fair on March 19 at Robinson Secondary School, where there were about 400 exhibitors from high schools throughout all of Fairfax County.
All 21 entries from Langley came away with at least one prize.
At this prestigious competition, two types of prizes were awarded: the Corporate and Professional Society Awards and the Category Awards. Regional winners will compete in the Virginia State Science Fair, and a few will advance to the ISEF fair held in San Jose, CA.
The winners of the Corporate and Professional Society Awards – which include cash prizes as well as scholarships – are as follows: JooHee Choi, Jun Sup Lee, Dennis Li, Kelly Martins, Buran Ni, Debbie Pan, Nathan Roberson, Alexander Sands, Zackary Sanders, Alicia Underhill, Dennis Won and the team of Audrey McNicholas and Gabriella Jacobsen.
The Category Prize winners included the Honorable Mention Michael Ratcliffe, as well as the third place winners Alexandra Fraley, Buran Ni, Zackary Sanders, Alicia Underhill and the team of Audrey McNicholas and Gabriella Jacobsen.
The second place winners were Michele Anderson, Allison Brady, Debbie Pan, Nathan Roberson, Vaibhavi Silamgari, the team of Alexander Anderson and Braeden Sebastian and the team of Mackenzie Boedicker, Annie Cross and Nicole O’Donnell. The first place winners, who will advance to the Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair at Old Dominion University, include JooHee Choi, Jun Sup Lee, Dennis Li, Kelly Martins, Alexander Sands, Dennis Won, the team of Jin-Young Jeon and Suhyoun Yu and the team of Jason Granstedt and Peter Habran.
The Grand Prize Nominees were JooHee Choi, Dennis Li, Kelly Martins and Dennis Won.
The Grand Prize Winner, Dennis Won, is celebrating his second grand prize win for two years straight.
