College Playoff Predictions

There was no doubt in my mind that when I made these predictions that Clemson would lead the pack and Alabama would directly follow them. Clemson has never wavered all year, led by their Heisman finalist candidate Dashaun Watson. Alabama on the other hand has looked like the strongest team in the country ever since their early season loss to Ole Miss.

When it came to the third and fourth seed it was completely up to the last three weeks. Oklahoma State came into those three weeks undefeated, leaving me to believe that even if they lost one game they would still get in the playoff, yet they managed to lose two of their last three games, ruining their playoff hopes and losing themselves the Big 12 championship. Michigan State may have been the wildest team all year with their ups and downs, yet I thoroughly believed in their last three weeks that they could upset #3 Ohio State and #4 Iowa, which they
did.

Clemson and Alabama did turn out going first and second respectively in the Playoff, while Michigan State actually ended up in third. They knocked off #3 Ohio State and #4 Iowa in two of their final three games earning them the right to that third slot, after a year of close games for them.

The one team that got in the playoff that I was not expecting was Oklahoma. They came up clutch down the stretch of the season, beating top ten seeds Oklahoma State and Baylor, and only losing one game all season, earning them that last spot in the Playoff. I think that in this playoff, Clemson will beat Oklahoma while Alabama will beat Michigan State. This sets up the ultimate title game between the top two seed, in which I think Clemson will get a 32-23 win.
