The Saxon Scope

Hi, I’m Tyler Seckar! I am a senior and the Assistant Business Editor on the Langley student-run newsmagazine, the Saxon Scope. It’s my third and final year in journalism and I am super excited for what this year will bring. Journalism really allows students to get involved and be a part of Langley High School. You get to write about topics that you believe are important to Langley students and its community. Being in the business department means that I organize subscriptions, find advertisers, and design advertisements. Business may seem like a very tiny part of the Scope, but it is what allows this great magazine to be placed in your hands. Not only do I get to work in the best department on the Scope, but I also get to continue writing about topics that I find exciting. Aside from journalism, I row on the Langley Women’s Varsity Crew Team. Rowing takes a lot of commitment and motivation, just like anything else you want to get better at. Even though I spend a lot of time on the water in a boat, I manage to balance my time with school and other activities. I worked at a camp this past summer on Lake George, NY. As a camper there for 9 years I finally became an Assistant Counselor, where I got to teach kids how to swim, rock-climb, water-ski, and sail. When I am lucky enough to have some spare time I love to spend it with my friends and family. However, my first priority is always reading the Scope as soon as it’s printed out! And trust me, yours will be too!
