The Saxon Scope

Swetha Ramesh, Managing Editor

Hi! I’m Swetha Ramesh and I’m a Managing Editor for the Saxon Scope. I am super excited for another year of amazing stories and papers with my jcrew (journalism staff). I have met the most fantastic group of people in journalism and hope that this year only brings us closer!
Writing is something that I love doing; whether it’s writing an article for the Scope or writing short stories in my free time. I’ve been writing ever since I can remember and this has resulted in a lot of crazy stories and wondering “why on Earth did I write this?” But despite committing almost every writer’s faux pas on the planet, I still manage to keep coming back, pen and paper in hand.
Writing, while definitely one of my favorite things to do, is not the only thing i do. When I’m not fulfilling the stereotype of a studious Asian, I’m horseback riding, posting on Instagram, playing my viola, or playing tennis. I play my instrument in the Langley Orchestra and I play tennis for Langley as well. Another one of my favorite things to do is talk. Logically, Speech and Debate is something I live for. Speech and Debate lets people who like to talk (like me) actually have an audience to talk to. My current obsessions include Gossip Girl, sushi, Malcolm Gladwell, and turkey bacon. (Not so) fun fact: I am terrified of birds and have ornithophobia. (Actual) fun fact: I have traveled to every continent including Antarctica.
I am looking forward to this year of journalism and hope that this year brings lots of amazing fun-fact-worthy experiences!
