The hype was real. For the first time in years both number one seeds in the NFC and AFC, the 13-3 Seahawks and Broncos, were in the big game and sent the media into a frenzy. The best defense against the best offense, it was a matchup for the ages. But as anyone that watched the game knows, it may go down as one the biggest disappointments’ in super bowl history, both on the scoreboard and, surprisingly, in commercials. 22-0, that was the score at the end of the first half, the Seahawk’s tyrannical defense tore up the Broncos offense, and the score reflected it. But there was still hope, it almost happened last year at the 49ers-Ravens superbowl, and it could’ve happened this year, a comeback. After an uplifting halftime performance by Bruno Mars, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, everyone was hopeful for a renewed Broncos and a competitive game. However, it took one kickoff to Percy Harvin to kill any hope of a comeback. But hey, it’s the super bowl, right? That means that all fans not watching their favorite team could sit back and relax with some light commercial humor from big names like Doritos and Bud Light. Yet these small comedies blew it almost worse than the game. Aside from the occasional Pistachios commercial, A mix of a multilingual “America the Beautiful” and odd car commercials left fans questioning their sanity.
