On Monday April 8, Langley Boys Varsity tennis went head to head against Madison High School for their eighth game of the season. Langley came out victorious with a final score of 9-0, a perfect sweep.
With this win Langley’s holds a record of 6-2 with losses against McLean High School and Thomas Jefferson High School.
Sophomore Nick Smoyer said that “Madison has a great tennis program all around and we would have not defeated them if we did not work as a team. Our positive attitude compelled us to pull through.”
James Schenck another sophomore stated that “we are looking to defend our regional title and hold our position as second in the state with high hopes of the state title this year. This game just helped us get one step closer to actually making this a reality.”
Yesterday’s game consisted of both singles and doubles matches.
Pertaining to singles matches: senior Brandon Lee defeated Chung Zhou 10-2. Freshman Kevin Shen defeated Albert Chang 10-1.
Freshman Hammy Abuhamda defeated Alex Dondershine 10-2. Sophomore James Schenck defeated Dylan Miks 10-0. Senior Joe LaFuria defeated Mark Fertal 10-2 and junior Chase Lewis defeated Neil Freeney.
Regarding the doubles matches: Brandon Lee and Hammy Abuhamda defeated Chung Zhou and Dylan Miks 10-5. JT von Seggern and Joe LaFuria defeated Albert Chang and Alex Donershine and Kevin Shen and James Schenck defeated Mark Fertal and Ben Ostapovilz with a final score of 10-2.
