The week of April 28th, Langley participated in “Stress Less, Laugh More” week, or as we like to call it, an average week at Langley. There were few things that differentiated this week from every other week. Extra announcements were added to the day and students were expected to partake in activities throughout the week including basketball, yoga, Zumba, Play-Doh, and board games during Saxon time and lunch (which were kind of fun).
With the week being placed the week before AP tests started it was hard to tell if people were laughing more and stressing less or stressing more and laughing less. Not only were AP tests consuming the minds of many students but others were pressed with tests, quizzes, and excessive amounts of homework uncharacteristic of a “stress less” week.
While few people will ever turn down the tootsie-pops, fruit snacks, and granola bars given out during first and second periods it’s hard to believe these would counteract the annoyance held towards the high-pitched, scratchy, outdated music blasted during class changes. This “fun” feature of stress less week looked somewhat pitiful in comparison to other schools in the area that play popular music every day in between classes with decent quality speakers.
While the attempts and efforts to relieve the stress of an entire school may have been a little farfetched and few can say the efforts weren’t wasted, most are glad to say they had a chance to wear pajamas for a week without seeming as lazy and tired as everyone is sure to have felt.
