Saxon Scope reporters Cayhan Movaghari and Alex De Thier enter the Spring vs Winter debate. Who do you agree with? Leave a comment on the bottom of the page.
Spring: Alex
Let’s be honest; everyone prefers warm weather over cold.
Would you rather wake up to sunshine with a mild breeze flowing through the window, or wake up sweating from the thousand layers you’re bundled in to keep warm.
Spring usually entails my favorite kind of weather; warm but not too warm, cool but not too cool. The sun’s out for longer and there’s way more time for activities.
Winter is simply depressing; sure it has some of the year’s best holidays, but it feels like the longest part of the school year. It’s far enough in from September, but even farther from June.
If you’re some sort of school enthusiast, then I apologize in case I offend you, but I know I’d much rather be on the homestretch to summer than surrounded by a sea of stress from which you can’t quite see an escape.
For me the best part of spring is the sports.
Spring season involves more teams and student-athletes than its winter and fall counterparts. These sports include some of Langley’s most successful programs, including soccer, tennis, and of course Langley’s crown jewel; the lacrosse teams.
Sunny days, feel-good weather, popular sports among student-athletes; I’d rather it be Spring than any other season in the school year.
Winter: Cayhan
The snow, family, and holidays! What more could you want from a season? As an avid skier I feel as if winter is the ideal season.
Along with the snow sports, you can always count on family. Winter is synonymous with family and the cold weather always seems to bring families together.
Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza, New Year’s, President’s day: these are all holidays celebrated in winter that mean we get valuable time off. Also, The Super Bowl goes on during this time! I mean the most widely watched single event in the history of history!
Spring’s got nothing that comes even close to that.
For all you sports fans there is the NFL playoffs as well as the NHL, and NBA. This accompanied by Langley’s stellar basketball, wrestling, gymnastics, and winter track and field team, as always our phenomenal dance team which doesn’t perform in the spring is a winning formula.
Another major point for all you love birds out there is Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day is a symbol of love across the globe. Chocolate, flowers, and love, perhaps the greatest combination possible.
