The largest student run event in Fairfax County is happening tomorrow at Cooper Middle School; Relay for Life. After months of anticipation, the event has finally arrived with a grand total of 67 teams, 781 participants, and currently a grand total of over 96 thousand dollars rose towards the American Cancer Society. Now, with the hard work finished, a night of celebration and remembrance can begin. Starting at six, the event will start with food and games, such as a Bungie-Race station and giant hamster balls. As the sun goes down, the famous Luminaria ceremony will allow participants to share and reflect on their victories and losses to cancer with an audience of only friends to support them. With the night moving forward, only participants with at least one hundred dollars will be allowed to stay and experience awesome events such as the Ms.Relay contest, team activities, and the survival to stayt awake until 6 a.m.! It’s an all-night party and celebration of life, and a fantastic fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Even at nearly 100 thousand dollars raised, are work is not done. With a goal of one hundred and twenty thousand, more donations are still needed to raise money for a cure. Whether you’ve personally been affected by cancer, or know someone who has or is currently suffering, come down to Relay for Life. It’s a good time for a great cause.
