In late 2016, certain classes are going to be moved into the new classrooms next to the football field. This project began in the 2014-15 school year and was expected to be complete in time for the 2016-17 school year. Now, teachers are expected to be moved in early November.

“The plan is to start moving on November 4th,” said Principal Fred Amico, “The plan could change, but that’s what we’re hoping for now.”

The new classrooms are said to resemble the recently completed section with the auditorium in style. The features of the new classrooms will be brand new.

“The rooms will be bigger,” said Assistant Principal Jim Robertson, “They will have new floors, new windows, the AC and heating will be upgraded, they will have new paint, and they will have better technology access.”

English, history, and science classes will take place in the new rooms, and will also feature locker rooms and a lecture hall. Teachers were originally told they would be moving over in the summer, but now they will be moving mid-school year.

“I hope the light and windows will change the feel in my class,” said humanities teacher Mr. Kissling, “I love the entrance to LHS, so I’m excited about the move to come.”

Although the teachers will be moving in November, the rooms will not be fully complete right away. “All classrooms will have new furniture as well,” said Mr. Robertson. “That, however, will not be delivered and installed in the new area until the Christmas break.”

Ideally, the classrooms will be compete on track to provide students with a better learning environment as soon as possible.“It will be a substantial upgrade from what we have now,” said Mr. Amico, “The old classrooms don’t even compare.”
